KCPD investigate homicide in 6800 block of East 98th Terrace

KANSAS CITY, Mo. — One man was fatally shot Sunday night in Kansas City, Missouri.

Police responded shortly after 5 p.m. to the 9800 block of Cambridge Avenue for an outside disturbance that included the sound of gunshots. While en route, the call was upgraded to a shooting.

Officers located a vehicle in the 6800 block of East 98th Terrace where the victim was located. The crime scene stretched about one block on Cambridge Avenue, according to a KCPD spokesperson.

Police said occupants of two vehicles were involved in a disturbance when the parties began shooting.

There is no suspect information at this time. Anyone with information is asked to contact the Homicide Unit at 816-234-5043 or make an anonymous tip through the TIPS Hotline at 816-474-TIPS. Information that leads to an arrest could result in a reward up to $25,000.

Jackson County, Missouri, Sheriff Darryl Forte also was on scene during the investigation.

This is the 171st homicide in Kansas City in 2020.
