Woman charged in fatal shooting

UPDATE, Jan. 17 | A 21-year-old woman has been charged in the January 13 shooting death of Keith Lars.

Tityana Coppage faces murder 2nd degree and armed criminal action.

According to court records, Coppage told police she knew Lars would be near Independence Avenue and Benton. She met him there and followed him. She told police that when he pulled out a gun and fired at another vehicle, she fired from her vehicle and hit him.

UPDATE, Jan. 14 | The victim was identified as 36-year-old Keith Lars.

ORIGINAL STORY, Jan. 13 | Kansas City, Missouri, police are investigating a fatal shooting that happened Wednesday afternoon.

Police received a report of a shooting around 12:30 p.m. in the area of Benton Boulevard and Thompson Avenue.

According to police, while officers didn't initially find a victim, they were notified a short time later by the Kansas City, Missouri, Fire Department, which was alerted to a possible victim nearby.

Shortly after, a victim was located in a car near Admiral Boulevard and Virginia Avenue.

Police say the victim, a man in his 30s, was pronounced dead at the scene.

No suspect information was immediately available.
