UPDATE, 6:50 p.m. | A Leawood Fire Department spokesperson confirmed the gas line has been capped and residents are free to return home.
No damage was reported other than the gas line.
Authorities have cleared the area.
UPDATE, 5:40 p.m. | Police said roads are in the process of being opened as the break has been controlled.
Additionally, a "majority" of residents are being allowed to return to their homes.
UPDATE, 5:10 p.m. | Leawood fire says the break has been stopped.

UPDATE, 4:45 p.m. | The Leawood Fire Department says residents of 30 homes in the area of W. 113th Terrace and Granada Street have been evacuated due to Wednesday afternoon's gas line strike.
A spokesperson said the line was struck around 2 p.m. by a construction crew.
While no injuries have been reported, the evacuations remained in effect as of 4:45 p.m.

EARLIER | Leawood police have asked the public to avoid the area of 113th and Roe after a gas main was struck.
Police said roadways in the area are closed.
Additionally, homes near the break are being evacuated as a precaution.
