LEE’S SUMMIT, Mo.— Police are working to narrow down a suspect in the death of a Missouri Air National Guard member who was left to die on the shoulder of a roadway.
Lee’s Summit police want to look at any dash camera video from people who were driving Saturday evening in the area of Highway 291 from Highway 50 or to Highway 7. They hope it can provide a break in the case.

On Sunday, the grieving family of Cody Harter, 24, made a heart-wrenching plea.
“Don’t let it be on your conscience. Don’t let it be on your mind if you think, sorta think you know who did this, please call the police,” Kerrie Harter, his mother, said.
Police at this point in their investigation believe the motive was road rage.
"My son drove 65 miles an hour because he was so frugal. I can only imagine someone was upset because he wasn’t going fast enough," his mother said.
Sgt. Collin Stosberg with the Missouri Highway Patrol was at the grim scene Saturday evening.
“There’s a lot of hotheaded people out there that think they know everything; everyone makes mistakes,” Stosberg said.
He told 41 Action News his agency is dispatched to several cases of road rage every week, which is why drivers in our area have to expect the worst.
“If you find yourself in that situation, whether it’s someone who is either tailgating or making obscene gestures with your hands which you see from time to time, best place is to remove yourself from that situation. Obviously, if you can exit do that safely without that person seeing it or following you, call 911,” Stosberg said.
The last thing you want to do is feed the rage.
“Do not respond to any kind of aggressiveness because, sadly, most people nowadays are armed whether it’s with a firearm or a knife,” Stosberg said.
If you have any dash camera video, call the Greater Kansas City Crime Stoppers TIPS Hotline at 816-474-TIPS(8477).
