KANSAS CITY, Mo. — A 20-year-old man has been charged in the June 8 homicide of Trinton Phillips, who was shot in the parking lot of a Price Chopper in the Northland.
Blade Elliott was charged in Clay County with second-degree murder, two counts of armed criminal action and first-degree attempted robbery in connection with the deadly shooting.
According to court documents, Elliott allegedly shot Phillips in the parking of a Price Chopper in the 9700 block of North Ash Avenue in Kansas City, Missouri, during a drug deal the pair arranged over Snapchat.
Elliott was allegedly among five people in a vehicle, which parked next to Phillips’ vehicle, according to a witness. He got into the backseat of Phillips’ car to buy some marijuana before the shooting.
Detectives found three 9mm shell casings in the vehicle.
Bond for Elliott was set at $1 million.
