Merriam police are investigating a reported sexual assault that took place Thursday night.
Police said the reported assault occurred in the 8800 block of 64th Terrace around 9:30 p.m. Thursday. A woman reported the suspect assaulted her in the parking lot. Merriam police said a weapon was threatened and believed to have been displayed during the assault. Authorities said the victim was taken to the hospital, treated and released. Police said the suspect was not known to her. The victim is a tenant of the Pinegate apartment complex, but she is moving out.
Merriam police said the suspect is a male, 35 to 39 years old, 5’9” to 6' tall with a stocky build and shaved head with a short beard. The suspect was wearing blue jeans and a white sleeveless shirt.
Merriam police said the suspect was driving a blue 1990s model large sport utility vehicle, possibly a Chevrolet Suburban with rust around the rear wheel wells.
Police said they have increased patrols in the area.
