Meyer Blvd. shooting adds to violent weekend in KCMO

KANSAS CITY, Mo. — A man was shot Saturday afternoon near Meyer Blvd. and Olive St. in Kansas City, Missouri.

According to the KCPD, a male victim suffered a non-life-threatening gunshot wound to the thigh and was transported to the hospital for treatment.

It’s the latest incident in another violent weekend in KCMO, which has seen 10 people shot — two fatally — in fewer than 30 hours:

  • One person suffered a non-life-threatening gunshot wound to the leg near 72nd St. and Prospect Ave. The victim was transported to the hospital by private vehicle, where his condition was downgraded from stable to critical.
  • A man suffered a non-life-threatening gunshot wound to the face in the 11500 block of Holiday Drive. The incident happened at the Jefferson Place East Apartments shortly before 8 p.m.
  • KCPD said a Hispanic male in his late teens was fatally shot and two other Hispanic male teens were wound in a shooting shortly before 10:45 p.m. on Saturday near Van Brunt Blvd. and East 22nd St. The victims arrived at a fire station there in a private vehicle. Police believe the homicide/triple shooting happened in the 2200 block of Elmwood Ave.
  • KCPD officers responded to the sound of shots near Linwood Blvd. and Olive St. around 2:30 a.m. on Sunday. Witnesses at the location said several shooting victims were transported by private vehicle to a local hospital. Three victims were located — one person died from gunshot wounds and two others suffered non-life-threatening injuries.
  • At 2:40 a.m. on Sunday, one person suffered non-life-threatening injuries in a shooting near Broadway Blvd. and West 10th St. KCPD believes two motor vehicle accidents — one at 8th St. and Broadway and another at 14th St. and Broadway — were related to the shooting, possibly involving persons fleeing the scene.
