ORIGINAL STORY 2/4/2017:
A man was killed in an officer-involved shooting near 80th and Wayne Saturday afternoon.
Forte tweeted that no officers were injured.
A police spokesman said the suspect's neighbor reported gunshot damage on the outside of their home and called police. The neighbor said they heard shots fired inside the suspect's house. The suspect believed to be armed refused to leave the home when police arrived, which began a stand-off.
Sgt. Kari Thompson said negotiations failed and the suspect was shot by police when he left his home. He died at the scene.
Thompson said the suspect was a black male but did not release his identity.
At least one officer was placed on administrative leave.
