KANSAS CITY, Mo. — Two people were shot, including one man who died, during a late-morning incident near Truman Road and Oakley Avenue in Kansas City, Missouri.
According to the Kansas City Police Department, officers were dispatched to the area shortly before 11:30 a.m. for a reported shooting.
While en route, officers were informed there was a shooting victim in the parking lot at a nearby Dollar General.
An adult male was found at that location with a gunshot wound. He was taken to a local hospital with life-threatening injuries and was in critical condition, according to KCPD.
At the Truman and Oakley shooting scene, another adult male was located inside a residence. He was declared dead at the scene.
Police identified the deceased shooting victim as Joshua Jackson, 20, of Kansas City, on Friday afternoon.
Police believe the disturbance started at the residence on Oakley Avenue and are interviewing witnesses about the circumstances that led up to the shooting.
