KANSAS CITY, MO. — A family searches for answers after a 19-year-old was shot and killed outside of a popular Italian restaurant in Kansas City Sunday night.

Erick Estrada worked at Cascone's at 3737 of North Oak Trafficway. He was outside around 10 p.m. when he was shot to death in the parking lot.

Estrada's cousin said the family is heartbroken and they want whoever killed him found.

Estrada was pursuing culinary arts at the Northland Career Center, alongside Colton Chester.

Chester said Estrada helped him land a job.

"He told me I should work at Texas Roadhouse too," explained Chester.

Estrada worked at the Barry Road location and loved to grill.

He was a senior at North Kansas City High School and has a sister.

Friends said he was funny, outgoing and had a positive energy.

"All his smiles. He's funny. And he's all happy. Trying to make it more fun that's what I'll miss," explained Chester.

Chester said if Estrada were still living he would go into the culinary program at Johnson County Community College. He thought that one day Estrada may open a restaurant.

Estrada also enjoyed photography.

At this time police said they have no tips on who shot Estrada.

Investigators have not released a suspect description.

Anyone with information on the homicide is asked to call the TIPS Hotline at 816-474-8477.
