KANSAS CITY, Mo. — An argument between two people led to a fatal shooting Wednesday afternoon in the parking lot of a Northland Walmart.
The shooting happened at about 4:20 p.m. in the parking lot of the store at 8551 N. Boardwalk Avenue.
The victim and suspect got into an argument, which led to the victim being shot at least one time, police said.
The victim was declared dead at an area hospital.
He was later identified as 71-year-old Ronald Barnett.
Off-duty officers working at the store were able to alert other officers, and a suspect was quickly arrested, police said.
Homicide detectives and crime scene technicians were on the scene Wednesday evening gathering evidence.
The store closed for the day after the shooting.
