Police have arrested an armed carjacking suspect following a high-speed chase across the state line Monday night.

According to police, the chase began around 10:15 p.m. in east Kansas City, Missouri, after a man committed an armed carjacking and then took off down Watkins Drive at 80 mph in a gold Chevrolet Malibu.

The man eventually drove westbound on I-70 and exited off the highway on Minnesota before continuing the chase into KCK for 15-20 minutes.

KCMO police then briefly stopped following the car around 10:37 p.m. once the suspect drove west in the east bound lanes of I-70.

KCK police continued the chase to the railroad tracks at 18th and Osage until the driver got out of his car and started running away.

He was stopped and arrested shortly after.

No injuries were reported.
