KANSAS CITY, Mo. — Raytown police are continuing to investigate after two people were found dead inside a home and a third was hospitalized with gunshot injuries last week.

Police responded to the home in the 8300 block of Hedges Avenue in the early morning hours on Wednesday, Jan. 13.

After an initial standoff, a man came to the door who had been shot. He was transported to the hospital and remained in serious condition on Tuesday, police said in a news release.

Two other people, identified on Tuesday as 69-year-old Kenneth McKenzie and his wife, 62-year-old Etta McKenzie, were found dead inside the home with undefined injuries. The McKenzies lived in the home.

A police spokesperson said Tuesday that the department was still investigating the incident and could not say whether it would be ruled a double homicide.

No suspect information was available, but police said there is not believed to be any threat to the public.
