Three people have been arrested after a carjacking early Thursday morning.

Police first responded to a call of a carjacking at Gregory and Prospect in KCMO around 2 a.m.

Following a short pursuit, all three suspects bailed on the stolen vehicle.

Authorities searched the area near 53rd and Swope Parkway for about 30 minutes before officers arrested a male and female.

Investigators told 41 Action News that the carjacking suspects were targeting vehicles near the UMKC campus based on what was found inside the stolen car. Police say the items had UMKC logos on them.

There was a short chase as police searched for a third suspect associated with the crime.

Officers also confirm that one of the three suspects held a gun out the window at a group of people.
