A Merriam gun shop owner is working with ATF and Merriam police to recover guns stolen from his business early Thursday morning.

Signature Manufacturing makes and sells guns.

Around 2 a.m. Thursday, police received word that there was a loud alarm at the business. When police arrived, weapons were missing.

The guns are usually stored in an 8-foot safe, but Mike Everhart, the store owner, is moving and the guns were removed from the safe.

He wondered if the burglars knew the guns would be out in the open.

"It's the only time they've ever been out like that, and somebody did what's called a smash and grab and grabbed some firearms," Everhart said.

The ATF and Merriam police are investigating to find who took the guns and recover the weapons.
