Double shooting in south KCMO leaves 1 man dead, 1 injured

KANSAS CITY, Mo. — Kansas City, Missouri, police are looking for witnesses to a deadly shooting Saturday night.

Officers were called to a shooting around 11:15 p.m. near Bannister Road and Crestview Drive.

During the course of the investigation, officers discovered a vehicle stopped nearby on Bannister west of U.S. 71. Inside the vehicle, police found a man who had died from a gunshot wound.

Police identified the homicide victim Monday as 27-year-old Jevonte D. Clark.

"Detectives are making progress identifying a subject of interest in this case," a KCPD spokesman said Monday via email.

A second shooting victim arrived at a hospital. He has been upgraded to stable condition.

KCPD said both victims were injured in the same shooting.

KCPD is asking anyone with information about the incident to call the Greater Kansas City Crime Stoppers Tips Hotline at 816-474-TIPS (8477). There is a reward of up to $25,000 for information leading to a homicide arrest and callers can remain anonymous.
