KCPD investigates first homicide of 2021

KANSAS CITY, Mo. — Kansas City, Missouri, police are investigating the first homicide of 2021 in south Kansas City.

Police responded to a sound of shots fired in the area of 115th Street and Holmes Road around 10 p.m. Wednesday night.

Police then located a man who was shot in the 11400 block of Oak Street.

Paramedics took the man to the hospital, where he died. On Friday, police identified the victim as 35-year-old Frank W. Peters.

A second victim, another man, later showed up at the hospital with gunshot wounds and was last listed in critical condition.

Police on Friday said a suspect had been identified in connection with the shooting, and the case will be referred to the prosecutor's office once the investigation is complete.
