KANSAS CITY, Mo. — A 14-year-old boy died in an accidental shooting early Tuesday morning, Kansas City police said.
Two juveniles were playing with a firearm at the Vivion Oaks Apartments near Northeast 50th Terrace and North Oak Trafficway, police said. An accidental discharge struck the boy in the head, killing him.
Other family members in the residence were sleeping at the time, police said. The shooting occurred around 3:30 a.m.
First responders found the boy suffering from a gunshot wound and performed CPR, but he was ultimately pronounced dead at the scene.
Police said there were six children and two adults inside the home at the time.
