Police respond to deadly shooting near St. John, Drury Avenues in Kansas City

KANSAS CITY, Mo. — Police responded to a deadly shooting late Wednesday night in Kansas City, Missouri's, Historic Northeast neighborhood.

The shooting happened about 9:50 p.m. in the 5500 block of St. John Avenue.

Police say when they arrived on scene, they found an adult man who had been shot lying on the sidewalk.

The man died on the scene.

He has been identified as Nicolas Irachata, 27.

Police say the circumstances leading up to the homicide are unknown.

Police say they have no one in custody.

The shooting Wednesday night marked KCMO's 176th homicide of 2023.
