KANSAS CITY, Mo. — Police in Kansas City, Missouri, are investigating a homicide Thursday night.
Just before 7:30 p.m., officers were dispatched to the 3700 block of Independence Avenue regarding an armed party.
Upon arrival, they found an adult male victim, later identified by police as 35-year-old Johnathan Rodgers, suffering from bodily trauma.
Emergency medical personnel responded to the scene and transported the victim to a local hospital where he was pronounced dead.
Simultaneously, officers were dispatched to the area of East 6th Street and Monroe Avenue on an ambulance en route call.
It was later determined by authorities that both of these calls were related.
Officials said the original incident occurred at 6th and Monroe.
Preliminary investigation revealed the victim to have injuries consistent with blunt force trauma, according to authorities.
Responding officers located several witnesses on scene and detectives are interviewing those witnesses to determine what led up to the incident.
