Kansas City police resolve overnight standoff where 'several' people were inside home

KANSAS CITY, Mo. — Police in Kansas City, Missouri, responded to a standoff on Monday afternoon.

According to KCPD, officers attempted to stop a vehicle in the 5200 block of Byrams Ford Road.

The vehicle pulled into the driveway of a home in the area and "several" people exited the vehicle and ran inside.

Police were familiar with the home due to previous property crimes investigations there.

After contacting the home owner, police confirmed the people didn't have permission to be inside.

Police gave several verbal commands for them to exit the home, but they refused.

Officers later called the standoff to bring tactical resources and negotiators to the scene.

Several people have exited the home, but police believed one person remained inside as of 8 p.m.

Around 12:16 a.m. Tuesday, police informed KSHB 41 News that the standoff had concluded with no additional individuals taken into custody.

KCPD will investigate the case.
