KANSAS CITY, Mo. — A Platte County judge denied the owner of Rockstar Burgers bond Tuesday.

Brian Smith was charged Dec. 6 with second-degree domestic assault and armed criminal action, stemming from a Nov. 24 incident in which he alleged struck a woman he had a relationship with in the head with a handgun.

He was initially denied bond Dec. 10 after his arrest by Parkville police.

Smith is due back in court Jan. 7, 2020.

One day earlier, Kansas City, Missouri, police executed a search warrant at 1611 Genessee Avenue in connection with a rape investigation.

Authorities searched all three stories of the building, including Rockstar Burgers on the main floor and apartment space above the restaurant.

Police seized possible evidence in the sexual assault case, which originally was reported in April, during the search.
