SHAWNEE, Kan. — Shawnee police are investigating a break-in at the Sprint store near Shawnee Mission Parkway and Lackman Road.

Police arrived on scene around 2:30 Thursday morning after an alarm was tripped.

One of the store-front windows was smashed. However, it appears it was a double-paned window, and police said the alleged thieves were not able to get in.

Janssen Glass & Door arrived on scene to clean up the piles shattered glass. They also removed the second window and replaced it with plywood.

The glass repair man on scene said another break-in occurred early Thursday morning at the T-Mobile store in Olathe.

Sgt. Logan Bonney with the Olathe Police Department confirmed the break-in to 41 Action News.

He said the store was broken into just after midnight, and they are still trying to figure out what items were stolen.

Sgt. Bonney said police were able to get a good description of the alleged thieves from surveillance video and arrested two suspects several hours later.

He also said it's possible that the Shawnee and Olathe burglaries are connected, and investigators are looking into possible ties throughout the metro area.

Shawnee police said they are working with Olathe PD to help determine if the incidents are related.

In March, two other Sprint stores in Johnson County were burglarized, one on 95th street in Overland Park and another at Town Center in Leawood.

Storefront windows were smashed and several phones and electronic devices were taken.
