Teenager killed in Tuesday afternoon shooting in Kansas City, Missouri

KANSAS CITY, Mo. — A 16-year-old boy died in a shooting shortly before 12:40 p.m. on Tuesday in Kansas City, Missouri.

Police identified the teen as Zechariah Washington.

The shooting unfolded at an apartment complex in the 8200 block of Forest Avenue.

Police responded to the scene on report of gun fire.

When they arrived, officers located Zechariah suffering from gunshot wounds.

He was transported to an area hospital and later died.

No suspect was immediately in custody, and police are still investigating the circumstances of the shooting.
