KANSAS CITY, Mo. — A teen is facing charges in the fatal shooting of a 17-year-old Blue Springs boy in November 2018.

Aden J. Kaler, 17, is charged with first-degree attempted robbery, second-degree murder and armed criminal action.

According to court records, Jayden Lockett, 17, was found dead in the basement of a home on the 1200 block of SW Sunsett Avenue on Nov. 10.

A witness told investigators that Lockett and Kaler went to the home together, records said. Two witnesses told police that Lockett went to the home to rob someone of money and drugs, knowing that the target carried a gun.

Another witness told police he drove Lockett and Kaler to the house to buy marijuana and waited in the car. Kaler later came out and told the witness to leave because there was gunfire inside.

A 15-year-old and 19-year-old were also injured in the shooting.

Kaler was taken into custody on Friday and is being held on a $150,000 bond.
