Mindy Ulmer stopped at a gas station to grab a drink Sunday afternoon. Not two minutes later, she says her daughter and two nieces, "Just rushed in and fell to the floor, screaming, crying."
The girls were finally able to tell her that a man jumped inside, told them to get out and stole her car. Mindy's 12-year-old daughter, Saralynn Ulmer, described his voice as, "Deep and harsh and it kind of sounded nervous."
It took quick action from 13-year-old Courtney Leaper to get the girls out of the car. "My first reaction was child lock and I just jumped," she said. Courtney hopped into the front, then opened the door from outside and got them out.
The car is a black, 2008 Saturn Outlook. Mindy bought the SUV the day before the theft. She saw the man drive off down Leavenworth Road afterward.
"I was running out after the car and then I was angry at everybody standing there. They said my niece was screaming for help and nobody helped," Mindy shared. "I'm completely upset because anything could have happened. When did everybody stop caring?"
