KANSAS CITY, Mo. — The Kansas City Bier Company is trying to find the person who allegedly stole a company van and is using it as part of other crimes.
The brewery said someone stole the white 2004 Ford Econoline 350 with Missouri license plate FL1-S5Z last week. The van has large KC Bier Co. branding and logos on both sides. It's the company's only van of its kind.
KC Bier Co. Managing Owner Steve Holle said he was shocked to find out the van had been stolen and was being used in a crime spree across the metro.
"I just kept thinking somebody would be crazy to steal such a recognizable, unique vehicle," Holle said. "I figured anybody who would steal that wouldn't use it and drive it around."
The Kansas City, Missouri, Police Department confirmed the van has been used to commit at least three crimes, not including the original theft of the van.
Holle said a business in the Crossroads caught the van being used to steal a car on its surveillance video, and a Liberty, Missouri, man told 41 Action News he spotted it in his driveway and later found money and items from his car missing.
KCPD said the van was spotted another time in the Midtown area.
KC Bier Co. said it uses the van to make deliveries and pick up supplies, but the loss is not necessarily hurting the brewery.
Holle said he hopes drivers will keep their eyes peeled.
"We feel bad that the van's being used to commit other crimes," Holle said. "We hope people will be aware and if they do see it, they'll report it to the police and hopefully they can catch this guy."
Anyone with information is asked to call KCPD Central Patrol at 816-234-5510. The case number is 19-85136.
