Authorities located two victims suffering from gunshot wounds. Police described one victim as an adult male; the second a juvenile girl.
Their injuries were initially described as life-threatening but have been updated to non life-threatening.
According to Kansas City councilman Jermaine Reed, the girl was released from the hospital Tuesday.
Police believe the adult male was the target of the shooting.
A woman in the checkout line at the store told 41 Action News she saw a man enter the store looking scared. That man was followed into the store by at least one other man and the two exchanged gunfire.
The woman told 41 Action News the female victim was a bagger at the store.
Early Tuesday morning, employees told 41 Action News the store would reopen at 7 a.m.
Kansas City, Missouri, Councilman Quinton Lucas tweeted Monday his frustrations with the shooting.
Upset by reports of shooting at Linwood Shopping Ctr. Thinking first about any victims. Thinking next about our community. We’ve got to change this and it is a problem that no new project or new initiative can fix unless we make deep structural changes in our community. #KCMO

Fellow Councilman Jermaine Reed also tweeted out frustrations with the shooting.
1 of 2 — Heart is heavy concerning the deeply disturbing act of gun violence at the Linwood Shopping Center. @kcpolice confirms this is an isolated incident not a random shooting, but a targeted one. Victims are in stable condition. My thoughts and prays for all involved.

2 of 2 — Bottom line: Violence is not acceptable in any form; particularly in a grocery store. People should be able to shop without the fear of violence. We will continue efforts to aggressively ensure safety and security of all residents.

No suspect information was immediately available.
The store opened on June 16, 2018. Many in the community were excited to see the development.
