UPDATE, April 13, 3:21 p.m. | A KCPD spokesperson said that because the circumstances in the case are still being investigated, police are not counting the death as a homicide.
Police said there is "not yet enough evidence to fully support a determination of homicide on our part, despite the medical examiner’s current ruling."
ORIGINAL STORY | A woman's April 8 death has been ruled a homicide, Kansas City, Missouri, police said Sunday.
KCPD said officers and an ambulance were called to Northwest Harlem Road just before 10 a.m. earlier this month.
They found the victim, who had struck her head on the wall while inside her apartment, police said.
She was taken to a local hospital, where she died from her injuries.
On Saturday, the Jackson County Medical Examiner found the woman's injuries had been caused by blunt force trauma to her head and ruled her death a homicide.
Homicide detectives and crime scene investigators returned to the apartment to process the scene.
