OLATHE, Kan. — A Johnson County woman is desperately searching for her horse. She believes crooks stole the horse from her family's property in Olathe.

Rocky, 25, has been in Mia Antes’s life ever since she was a teenager. She last saw him on Thanksgiving in the same field along with Wonder, her other horse.

“He is my furry, ginormous, four-legged stubborn son. He’s mine. I want him back,” Antes told 41 Action News.

At some point last week, Antes said thieves broke into a pen at her parent’s property near Olathe’s Kill Creek Park and stole Rocky.

“More than likely he refused to enter whatever they were trying to put him in or refused to leave the field,” Antes said.

That’s because a piece of Rocky’s tail was left behind.

“It was too big of a chunk and too far away from the gate to be rubbed off or loose,” Antes said.

She doesn’t think the red roan quarter horse ran off in the middle of the night.

“Because we’re always careful to close the gate. We close it behind and push it a few times to make sure it’s fully closed and won’t pop open,” Antes said.

Antes reported the theft to the Johnson County Sheriff’s Office. They told 41 Action News Tuesday they don’t have any leads in this case. Antes also posted the theft on the “Stolen KC” Facebook page.

“With his age and the fact that he is retired, they wouldn’t have been able to get anything for him,” Antes said.

People should be looking out for Rocky's distinctive white stripe that runs down his nose.

“Please don’t hurt him. Please bring him back home,” Antes said.

If you have any information about this reported theft call the Johnson County Sheriff's Office or the KC Crimestoppers Hotline (816) 474-TIPS (8477).
