KANSAS CITY, Mo. — The Wyandotte County District Attorney announced new charges Wednesday against a man accused of murder and arson in connection to the deaths of a woman and her two children.
Ismael Caballero, 31, was charged Jan. 1 with three counts of first-degree murder and two counts of arson.
Wednesday, Wyandotte County District Attorney Mark Dupree said Caballero would face capital murder charges.
Yazmin Rodriguez, 31, her daughter, Amerikha Rodriguez, 14, and her son, JeanCarlo Rodriguez, 10, were found dead in their home Dec. 30 as firefighters worked to put out a fire allegedly lit by Caballero.

Kansas City, Kansas, firefighters smelled smoke on their way back from a separate call and found the house on North Mill Street on fire.
After the bodies were discovered, police arrived on scene to assist with the investigation, which they quickly determined to be a homicide investigation.
Caballero was arrested the following day.
