KANSAS CITY, Mo. — Missouri’s democratic candidates made a final push Saturday ahead of Election Day with a Halloween-themed march to the polls event in Kansas City, Missouri, while republicans campaigned on the other side of the state.

Families took part in a safe trick-or-treating event, while voters had a chance to turn in absentee ballots.

The event, held at 215 West Kansas Avenue in Independence, featured gubernatorial candidate Nicole Galloway, Congressman Emanuel Cleaver II and Jackson County Prosecutor Jean Peters Baker.

"As governor, I would act with urgency protect the public health and get our economy going again,” Galloway said. “I would issue a statewide mask order. I would have more rapid testing and an actual contact tracing program."

Meanwhile, Gov. Mike Parson campaigned on the eastern side of the state, kicking off his day in St. Charles County. He also planned to stop in Marion and Macon counties.

"I think that's what Missouri citizens want,” Parson said. “They want their businesses open, they want to go back to work. They want their kids back in school. At the same time, they want us to fight the virus, and we are going to do that day in and day out."
