Newsome's House Calls is a celebration and a 30-day challenge for others to help us battle breast cancer.

My husband Ed and I are celebrating my five year anniversary as a breast cancer survivor with this special project.

We will visit  homes and make telephone calls to encourage women to get their mammograms and do their self-exams.

We're asking viewers to make some House Calls too -- and remind their moms, sisters and friends to take the simple steps that could save their lives.

Help us get the breast cancer conversation going with friends and family. Working together we can make a difference.

How You Can Get Involved in Newsome's House Calls:

1. Join Cynthia and Ed Newsome for interactive conversations on Facebook

Starting June 1, Ed and I will host 30 days of interactive conversations on Facebook. You can join the conversation by "liking" my Facebook page to view the live video and to ask questions everyday at 9 a.m.

We will have special guests who are breast cancer experts and survivors. There will also be conversations with leaders of organizations raising awareness, serving breast cancer patients and involved in research.

The calls are weekdays and weekends. Watch daily and ask questions. You can also let us know if you have a a guest or a topic you would like us to have for our daily 9 a.m. Newsome's House Calls.

2. Watch 41 Action News

Ed and I will share compelling and inspiring stories about the women and men we meet when we visit homes.

You'll discover why some women facing hardships struggle to take care of their health and have not had their annual mammogram.

We will connect those women with organizations that can remove those barriers and get them scheduled for their long-overdue mammogram.

On 41 Action News Midday, we will have live interview segments giving you the basics on what age to begin mammograms and self exams.

41 Action News Middday starts at 11 a.m. Click here to watch a live stream.

We will also discuss the difference between digital and 3-D mammograms and tell you where and how to get help for breast cancer prevention and treatment.

3. Make your own Newsome's House Calls

The power of friendship is amazing.

It makes all the difference when a friend--someone you know and care about--encourages you to do something.  You know it's from a place of love. That's the real premise for Newsome's House Calls.

Ed and I hope that over the years, we have become your friends.  We love and care about you; so we are doing everything in our power to connect with people.

We can't do it alone.  We're asking everyone to identify three friends or relatives they will call in June to remind them to get a mammogram.  We would love to hear your stories. Callers and people who receive a call --can share a comment on my Facebook page.

Let us know if Newsome's House Calls is making a difference.  Your stories will encourage others.
