Partnership brings mobile mammography to KCK

Posted

KANSAS CITY, Kan. — It is healthcare on wheels.

For the next three days in KCK, a partnership between Diagnostic Imaging Centers and the Kansas Housing Authority will bring the Mobile 3D Mammography Coach to people who may not otherwise get this potentially life-saving technology.

According to Dr. Linda Harrison, the visit takes about 15 minutes.

The imaging takes place right inside the coach.

Then, it is sent to a clinic where the results are ready in about 24 hours.

They take insurance and, if a person qualifies, they can provide the mammogram free of charge.

Monday they were parked just off Nebraska at the Granville Towers.

Dr. Harrison said this is a vital way to address two possible stumbling blocks to getting screened: access (they come to you), and cost (they will work with you to make it affordable).

It is printed right on the outside of the big, pink-ribboned RV: “Fueled by compassion. Driven by innovation.”
