9-year-old Nathan Reitner and 11-year-old brother, Lucas, are in training for the Rock, Roll and Run 5K.
The boys agreed to let me train with them. We met at Theis Park in Kansas City.
Nathan said he's participating in the run because running is fun and it's important to be active.
His older brother Lucas said he's running because running makes you strong and it's a good reason to get outside and have fun.
They want to be ready for the Rock, Roll & Run. It's a family friendly 5K in partnership with Providence Medical Center and the YMCA.
The race will take place on Saturday, October 8, at Providence Medical Ampitheatre.
It includes a health fair, Kids Dash, music, and fun! The Dash and health fair are free. Contact your local YMCA to register for the 5K.
Providence and the YMCA hope the event will help the Kansas City, Kansas, community focus on improving their overall health by adding regular exercise and eating heathy foods everyday.
All first responders including local EMS, fire, police and sheriff officers are eligible for a discount price of $5 to participate in the run. They may contact their local YMCA to register at the special price.
Good luck to my workout buddies, Nathan and Lucas! Have a great run everyone
