KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- The Kansas City Streetcar Authority has big plans for 2018.
The group is adding two new streetcars to their inventory. The hope is the new streetcars will help keep service on schedule when other streetcars go down or if there is an increase in passengers.
The authority also plans to spend 2018 working on expansions. There are two proposed expansions. One expansion is to the north towards Berkley Riverfront Park. The other expansion is to the south from Union Station to UMKC.
Streetcar Communications Director Donna Mandelbaum said it will be at least five years before there is any actual groundwork for an expansion southward.
