KANSAS CITY, Mo. — A 5-year-old’s birthday was a little extra special this year thanks to the Kansas City, Missouri, Police Department.
One year ago, KCPD Officer Alex Saragusa met a boy at a block party. This year, when the boy’s birthday party was canceled due to the coronavirus pandemic, his grandmother went to the police department and asked if Saragusa could surprise her grandson for his birthday.
“I do meet a lot of kids on this job, but this one definitely left an impact,” Saragusa said. “I’m glad I left a positive impact on him too, enough that he wanted me to come to this 5-year-old birthday party.”
The officer said he went to Target and got the boy his favorite toys and some books. Saragusa showed up at the boy’s house to let him see the lights on his patrol car.
