KANSAS CITY, Mo. — One man is dead and another man is in jail after a deadly Friday afternoon shooting in Independence.
The homicide happened about 1 p.m. at an apartment in the 300 block of Sundown Drive, according to a tweet from the Independence Police Department.
Officers responding to a call found the dead man outside an apartment.
A person of interest was arrested.
This was the second homicide of the year in Independence.
The first, the stabbing death of 37-year-old Jose Gotay, happened March 22 in the 2900 block of South Hawthorne Avenue.
