1 dead, 2 injured in high-speed rollover crash in Kansas City, Missouri

UPDATE, July 29 | The victim was identified as 34-year-old Sachay M. Steward of Kansas City, Missouri.

ORIGINAL STORY, July 24 | When a driver was involved in a high-speed rollover crash Friday night in east Kansas City, Missouri, one passenger in the car was killed and another was critically injured.

KCPD said the wreck happened about 7:30 p.m. on eastbound Missouri 350 near Blue Ridge Boulevard.

The speeding car with a driver and two passengers ran off the road, went airborne about 200 feet and landed on its top in the median, police said.

A 34-year-old woman passenger was thrown from the car and died at the scene.

A 40-year-old man, also a passenger, suffered critical injuries.

The woman who was driving the car is in stable condition.

Police are investigating whether alcohol was a factor in the crash.
