KANSAS CITY, Mo. — One person is dead following a shooting Monday night in Kansas City, Missouri.
Police responded to East 8th Street and Prospect Avenue around 9:15 p.m., where the victim initially was located with life-threatening injuries.
Police say a caller heard the sound of gunshots and saw a victim in the street.
When officers arrived, they found the man unresponsive. They rendered aid and took the victim to the hospital where he died a short time later.
Police on Wednesday identified the victim as 50-year-old Desimund Star.
The death marks the 101st homicide in the city this year. At the same time last year, Kansas City had 75 homicides.
There is no suspect information at this time.
