KANSAS CITY, Mo. — One woman is dead following following a shooting Sunday night in Kansas City, Missouri.
Police responded just after 10 p.m. to the 3700 block of East Seventh Street on a shooting call.
A KCPD spokesperson said that when officers arrived, there was an "active disturbance" in the front yard and multiple people were fighting.
Officers then located a woman who had been shot inside the home. Emergency Medical Services personnel declared the woman dead at the scene.
Police later identified the victim as 35-year-old Anna Velazquez.
Police said one person of interest is in custody and they were not looking for any other suspects.
