The world’s largest slip and slide is scheduled to be rolled out in Kansas City this summer.
Slide the City organizers planned to bring the event to KC last year but couldn’t find a location.
Several other cities have had to call off the event as well citing different issues.
Some riders in Pittsburgh complained about long wait times, slow sliding speeds, injuries and disorganization.
Still, Slide the City co-founder John Malfatto said they’ve worked out some kinks this year and have secured a location in Kansas City.
“That's why we're so excited about this year, getting an awesome street and getting that approved, the city has been awesome to work with,” Malfatto said.
When: Aug. 6, 2016
Where: East Pershing Road & East 25th Street, Kansas City, Missouri, 64108
David Steffano of Evenergy works with event organizers to help them comply with the city. Steffano confirmed Slide the City worked with properties near the Crown Center location to use the location. However, Steffano said the permit process is still ongoing.
“Plus we knew what the issues had been in other cities with Slide the City before and we had asked those questions about how are you going to handle this, what's going to happen and how are you addressing these concerns we have,” Steffano said.
The event’s co-founder said they’re working to address any concerns. Malfatto said he hopes to bring the 1,000-foot slide to the city he once called home - he went to high school in the metro area.
