KANSAS CITY, Mo. — Two men are dead after a disturbance at a bar at 99th and Holmes led to a police chase in south Kansas City, Missouri.
When police arrived at the bar, the two people involved in the disturbance jumped into a white Ford Explorer to leave.
Police began to chase the vehicle but said they ended it "well before the collision."
The suspects then tried to get onto 71 Highway North, but lost control on the tight curve of the exit and went through a guardrail. They also hit one of the concrete bridge support columns.
The driver and passenger in the car died at the scene.
Police came up on the crash a short time later and closed the ramp around 1:30 a.m. for investigation.
Removing the heavily-damaged car from the steep embankment had been more difficult than crews initially anticipated.
The road was expected to be closed through the beginning of the morning commute.
