3 injured, 3 flee the scene of SUV crash

KANSAS CITY, Mo. — Three people were injured and three others fled the scene of a crash at 37th Street and Prospect Avenue Monday morning.

Police said the crash happened around 12:45 a.m.

Investigators said a maroon Volvo SUV was headed south on Prospect Avenue at high speeds when the driver lost control.

The SUV hit a light pole on the passenger side.

Kansas City, Missouri, police said the male driver and two females from the car fled the scene of the crash.

They left behind three people, including two that had to be cut from the SUV.

One was a man seated in the right-front passenger seat. He sustained life-threatening injures.

The other was a man seated in the right-middle seat and he sustained critical injuries.

A woman seated in the left-middle seat sustained non-life-threatening injuries.

Police believe the two women that fled were seated in the middle seat of the middle row and the third-row seat.

It is unclear if those who fled were injured.
