KANSAS CITY, Mo. — Three people were injured, including a 2-year-old who is in critical condition, during a police pursuit on Wednesday in Kansas City, Missouri, according to police.

Officers responded to a call around 6 p.m. in the 5100 block of Hedges Avenue on reports of an armed man in a vehicle “possibly intentionally striking vehicles in the area.” Police said that “multiple callers” stated the driver had attempted to assault a female in the area.

Officers located the vehicle around East 53rd Street and Hardy Court, but the driver refused to stop, police said. Near Raytown Road and East 47th Street, the vehicle police were pursuing struck “at least one other vehicle.”

The man in the “suspect vehicle” was transported to an area hospital with “what was believed to be serious injuries,” police said. At least two people, a woman and a child, in a separate vehicle were transported to an area hospital. The woman is in serious condition.
