LINWOOD, Kan. — Our community won't soon forget May 28, 2019.
That's the day an EF-4 tornado touched down in Lawrence, Linwood and Bonner Springs before taking aim at the Northland, hurting more than a dozen people and destroying countless homes.
For hours, the 41 Action News team brought uninterrupted, live coverage to the metro to keep people safe.
Thankfully, in spite of winds up to 170 miles per hour, no one was killed that day.
The recovery process began immediately with neighbors, friends and family rallying around each other to clear the debris and recapture as many memories as possible.
These are the sounds and images that marked that storm as well as the year since as the community pieced itself back together.
