KANSAS CITY, Mo. – The city’s first big snowstorm in several years last weekend exposed a problem dating back even further: we’re terrible at clearing our sidewalks.

In this week’s 41 Files podcast, Sheila Styron, a disability rights advocate from Kansas City-based The Whole Person, talks about the importance of clearing sidewalks not just for those using them recreationally, but for those who need a clear path to get to the store or a job.

Styron told host Taylor Hemness that the city and its residents have never cracked the code in successfully developing a comprehensive strategy to clear sidewalks.

Later on the podcast, reporter Cat Reid joined to discuss the latest delay involving the new KCI single-terminal project.

On Tuesday, Mayor Sly James announced the city was taking another look at the project scope after meeting with airlines earlier in the week.
