KANSAS CITY, Mo. — With most hotels in the Miami area booked up for Super Bowl LIV, Airbnb is warning fans traveling to the game to be aware of scams when looking for other places to stay.
The big game will take place on Feb. 2, with thousands of fans traveling to Florida early.
According to Airbnb, the Better Business Bureau states vacation rental scams are rare, but do happen.
They provided a few tips to avoid losing your money on a bad buy:
- Read the host's profile thoroughly
- Filter your search for the correct price and amenities
- Check the rental's cancellation policy
- Read ratings and reviews from past guests - specifically who stayed there during other big events
- Message the host with any questions
- Check that transportation is available from the rental to the stadium
- Do a safety check upon arrival
- Reach out to the booking site if something is wrong with the rental
