KANSAS CITY, Mo. — Chris Skinner started recording his kids getting picked up and dropped off for school in August 2018.

“I happened to notice in the video though, that she didn’t use her lights,” he said.

Months later, Skinner says the driver was still an issue. Since they live just off 58 Highway, a four-lane road in Raymore, safety was a concern.

"Regularly in the news we hear something has happened with a bus or there’s a car that’s collided with it or just some other silliness and it’s just not safe," said Skinner.

His wife, Angela Skinner, said what bothered her is her children's fear of the driver.

“It really just broke my heart. I grew up in a place where that didn’t happen, not for children,” she said.

41 Action News reached out to the Raymore-Peculiar School District which sent this statement:

The Raymore-Peculiar School District is committed to providing a safe environment for our students. This includes transportation of students to and from school. We were made aware of a bus driver dropping off students without following appropriate procedures. The District worked closely with Apple Bus to make immediate personnel decisions and a new driver was assigned to the route as of Tuesday morning.

Apple Bus informed us the driver no longer worked for the company.

Angela wants to know, “Why did we have to go this far? I mean, this was an ongoing problem with her.”
