INDEPENDENCE, Mo. — A bomb threat early Tuesday afternoon forced the evacuation of as many as 150 residents of an Independence senior center. Police cleared the building and residents were allowed back inside.
A police spokesman said that officers were called by the owners of the Carmel Hills Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center in the 800 block of E. Walnut just after 1 p.m. saying they had received a threat.
The owners of the business made the decision to evacuate the residents. Police are assisting in that evacuation and securing the area.
Skytracker images show some residents of the facility waiting for police to clear the threat from the parking lot.
